Pazardzhik Municipality has humid continental climate which is characterized with dry summer. This climate is transitional between the humid continental climate of the Danube plain and the humid Mediterranean climate of Southeast Bulgaria. The minus temperatures in the Thracian plain are peculiar for the typical winter month of January. Because of the protection of Stara Planina mountain and the influence of the Mediterranean Sea, the average January temperature in Pazardzhik is high. The summer temperatures in Pazardzhik are not higher that the one in the Danube plain. The average temperature in July is 23.3°С. The long summer, often starting from April up to October is warm enough. This is convenient for the better development of some one-year plants such as rice, tobacco, cotton, etc.
The precipitation in the region depends on the cyclone winds – coming from north-west, south-west, south, north-east and east. Stara planina and Sredna Gora mountains are barrier for the precipitation and the cyclone winds from north and north-west and the Rhodope mountains are a barrier for the south Mediterranean precipitation. Annual amount of precipitation is only 515mm. Most of the precipitation is during the summer – 142mm (27.6%) and during the spring – 27 %.
Often there are dry periods during the second half of July and the first in August in Pazardzhik are typical for the region.
Pazardzhik is in the list of the 100 national tourist objects of the Bulgarian tourist union.
