Yambol is an administrative centre of Yambol province. Population of the town is near 90,000 people, and the city is well developed trade and administrative centre with good transport network. The town is situated on both banks of Tundzha river on 91 sq. km area. Yambol is 77 km away from Black Sea and south from the freeway Sofia-Burgas. The city bore the names Diospolis, Dampolis, Dabilin and finally Yambol.
The climate in the area is continental. Continuance of the sunshine is annual average 233 hours, when normal for Bulgaria is 1550-1600 hours with air temperature 10°С. Cloudiness is one of the main components of the climate. Its maximum is during the winter, when it decreases the sun warmth with about 70%. The winter in the area is relatively warm with average temperature in January 0,2°С and hot summer with average temperature in July 23.2°С. Annual average air temperature is 17,9°С, with absolute minimum - 6,4°С.
